Testing Tips and Tricks

Here are some tips and tricks that we've discovered during our testing of A2J Author. Some of the issues you'll see while testing are bugs or problems with A2J Author. Here is the list of known issues. Feel free to let us know about others (jessica@cali.org or webmaster@a2jauthor.org) if you find them. Some of the issues though are related to working or authoring in a browser. Here are some tricks for dealing with that:

  • Problem: variables are listed as "undefined" in logic, but you knw they are in your variables list.
  • Solution 1: Double check that the variable name is spelled properly. We've seen this issue arise with converted A2J 4.0 Guided Interviews where a variable is misspelled and the author didn't notice it in version 4.0.
    • Ex. [Movant name first TE] is the variabe in the logic statement. However, the variable that's actually in the Variables Tab is [Movent name first TE]. A2J Author doesn't recognize movAnt because movEnt is the actual variable in A2J Author.
  • Solution 2: Clear your browser's cache and do a hard reload. Sometimes when you're working on multiple Guided Interviews within a single browser session, there can be a caching issue.
    • To learn how to do a hard reload in your specific browser, check out this article

  • Problem: I uploaded an A2J Guided Interview, but it isn't showing up in my list of Interviews.
  • Solution: Do a refresh of your browser (see instructions above)
